We Restore Teeth to Their Strong, Radiant Self with Natural-looking Porcelain Crowns

Do you have a damaged or decayed tooth? Dental crowns in Mount Vernon, New York, can restore your tooth to be even better than it was before. With porcelain crowns, Elevation Dental Studio can strengthen, reshape, and resize your compromised tooth to create a healthy, natural-looking masterpiece.

When are dental crowns appropriate?

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped, beautifully designed appliance worn over a tooth to improve its strength, color, shape, and size. Unlike a dental veneer that only covers the front part of the tooth, a dental crown encapsulates the entire tooth for optimal stability.

Dental crowns have numerous cosmetic and functional uses in dentistry. Dr. MitzAnn Edmond can recommend a dental crown to:

  • Restore a dental implant
  • Support a traditional bridge
  • Reinforce your tooth after a root canal
  • Replace a large, worn-out filling
  • Esthetically improve a misshapen, rotated, or severely discolored tooth
  • Support a cracked, worn-out, or broken tooth

Our office uses the latest materials and technology to craft high-quality dental crowns. Whether used to restore front or back teeth, our crowns are customized for a perfect fit to recreate your natural smile.

How dental crowns are placed

A dental crown requires at least 2 dental visits to create a dramatic transformation for a perfect smile. The journey begins with a consultation to inspect your tooth to determine if a crown is the ideal treatment.

If your tooth is deemed fit for a crown, we start the tooth preparation process by removing a bit of the enamel around your tooth. Of course, this procedure is administered under anesthesia to avoid any pain.

After the tooth preparation, we’ll digitally scan your teeth to create a blueprint for fabricating your crowns. Your crowns are made in an off site lab, so it takes about two weeks to fabricate your restoration. In the meantime, we’ll temporarily restore your prepped tooth to protect it from injuries, sensitivity, and infections.

We’ll call you to come into our office once we receive your crown. The dentist will remove the provisional crown and clean your tooth before trying your new restoration. We’ll make a few adjustments to guarantee a seamless fit before using dental cement to bond the crown permanently to your tooth. That’s it! You can now enjoy your newly restored smile.
